"my father died when I was a baby, so my mom became my father and mother for me and my siblings, which I am blessed to this day."
Oni was born in Lagos State in Nigeria, on October 4, 1975. I am from a Christian home, with one brother and four sisters. I received my basic education in Lagos from 1978 to 1980, after which he continued to secondary school in Delta State in Nigeria, from 1982 to 1986.
Oni creates mainly using redwood, nylon, leather and fiberglass in making my instruments. Oni is a naturally gift and a self taught artist. He started learning and creating at a very young age.
Oni's artwork is encouraged by his day to day events and life experiences he has faced as an artist in West Africa. He has mentored many artist and has worked with many known artists like Kenny Adamson and Koko from Nigeria and Kajah from Ghana.
